On her elder daughter's birth certificate, my great great grandmother is named Mary Broadwood formerly Hamilton.
On her younger daughter's birth certificate she is Frances Mary Broadwood formerly Lowther.
This is obviously different but I was wondering if, at the time a copy was made for the GRO, could it havve been mis-transcribed? To me, at least, there seems like some correspondance in the shapes of the letters. Or am I just clutching at straws?
There is some evidence for her using Hamilton as a name, but Lowther doesn't appear in any evidence I have.
I would love your thoughts.
Thanks in advance.
