I am seeking information on this gentleman.
Born abt 1875 at Great Houghton,Northamptonshire. Parents George Reed & Louisa.
In the 1901 census he is shown Southampton with his wife(?) Alice Ada  shown as birth place Barnstaple age 24. In the 1911 census his birth place is Torrington,Devon!
I am having difficulty finding a marriage record as I do not have Alice Ada's maiden name...have trawled thru BMD with no success .
Appreciate any assistance. Many Thanks David

I can see 3 children in 1911. Use GRO online to establish mmn.  Son Herberts birth reg is on freebmd

You will also find William Austin REED's birth reg. in the GRO indexes, the district is Hardingstone.  Parents were married in Torrington reg. district.

I cant see a Marriage for William/Alice.
Could she have been a widow?

You may need a childs birth cert to establish that.

According to British RAF service records they married October 17th 1897 in Guernsey, other details about him are correct. He was in the 2nd Batt Hants regiment previously for 3 years , perhaps he was stationed in the Channel Isles.

I don't know if you have found the family in the 1921 census, but here is a clue if you haven't:

No not the unmentionable Shakespeare play!

I just didn't mention Alices maiden name as CaroleW had encouraged Philldw (David) to look up that on the GRO himself.

And yes I found her birth reg after posting that she may have been widowed.

The Marriage in Guernsey was a surprise though that was found by Cathy.
