Good morning Chaddie,

These are the relevant sites for your search on Joyce Winsome THORNE, but, I am unable to find her record.

Was she married?  What was her biological parents' name i.e. in what name is her Birth Certificate?
Maybe a search in that name may assist.

Was she killed as a service person or as a civilian.

There were some personnel who enlisted in the 'militia' prior to WWII who may not be apparent.  There were others who were active members of the Women's Land Army

hi bruce,
thanks for your reply.on my grandads army and r.a.f. papers it says her name was joyce winsome thorne, born 8th may 1925.her parents were helena mabel thorne(maiden name humphrey)and george thorne,my grandad.helena was his 1st wife.
we didnt actually know that joyce joined the australian womens air force, untill i went to devon on holiday last week.we went to the council my cousin and i and looked up helena,s death ,and found helenas grave, also containing joyce, and joyces occupation, she died in 1946,we have no idea how,but do know that her mum helena had joyces ashes for 25 yrs untill she died herself.
it did say w.a.a.f. on the sheet and in brackets australian womens air force.
lovely to hear from you,and thank you for all your help,i really appreciate it.
kindest regards
debbie
