Forenames
« on: Tuesday 04 July 23 09:04 BST (UK) »
My Miles line is not hard (so far) to trace, but I am wondering why in the 1700s children within it had names like Sarah, Hannah, Daniel, Isaac, Moses, Aaron - all biblical names, some unusual. They lived in Nibley, Gloucestershire, where I have not discovered an early Wesleyan presence.
Young, Gameson, Miles, Williamson, Cramond

Hi. I'm not a. Expert here but the names caught my eye.
There is an obvious biblical link but a quick look found some interesting lists of common names in early England that may give some hints on where to go next.

A quick analysis of baptisms on Durham Records Online for that era. Main counts are for 1750 plus or minus 20 years. Where that was too large I looked at 1750 plus or minus 5 years.
