It starts with the inventory, in Latin, "Inventory of all the goods of the late James Drysdale made at the house of his father the 16th day of the month of April 1546 before these witnesses..." None of the witnesses are Drysdales and no relationships are given. The inventory includes a horse, four plough oxen, two cows with calves, eight ewes, young sheep, two bolls of sown oats... The total of the inventory minus the debts comes to £44 3/4d Scots, the deid's pairt being £14 14/5d.
The will is written in Scots, but apart from the priest, nobody is mentioned by name. He leaves his property to his father, mother, wife and bairn. There are no placenames.
