Where is John Willie Gregory buried?
« on: Tuesday 18 July 23 16:11 BST (UK) »
John Willie Gregory was born 1895  (registered in Dudley) and married Florence Gertrude Southam in Luton, and they lived in Wolverhampton. John Willie was a railway guard. Florence died in 1927. He re-married after her death to Sarah Ann Dunning in 1928 (Wolverhampton Mar 6b 728). He died on the 14/9/1941 in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire (Crewe Sep 8a 535). The death certificate confirmed that he had died in a railway accident, from a broken neck, and he was a passenger, not at work. The official report of the accident told us that John Willie had been travelling in a passenger guard’s van on his way to work, probably talking to the on-duty guard. The train was just moving off from a signal and was travelling at about 5 miles per hour when another train ran into the back of them.
One other point is that he was baptised as John Willie Gregory and all the documents while he was alive call he John Willie (birth and marriage certificates) but after his death the documents call him John William Gregory eg. his death certificate and probate administration, Birmingham 1st November to Sarah Ann Gregory widow.
My problem is that I can’t find where John Willie is buried, would it be in Holmes Chapel or Wolverhampton? Can anybody help me find his grave?

Birmingham Daily Gazette 19th September 1941

John William Gregory, the goods guard, who was killed in the railway smash at Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, was buried yesterday at Bushbury, Wolverhampton.
The coffin was draped with the Union Jack, and six Home Guard sergeants acted as bearers. A Home Guard bugler sounded the "Last Post".
