German Church not Replying
« on: Saturday 22 July 23 13:31 BST (UK) »
Hello rootschatters,

I have currently been struck not by Brickwall, but from no response from the parish for parish registers.

I am researching my 2nd Great-grandfather, Traugott Otto Werner who was born in the parish of Nierderfrohna on July 12th of 1848.

I found their email address, so I sent a message but they haven't responded yet. Any tips on what should I do next (other than going to germany)?

Thanks in advance

Have patience!

Church Ministers have better things to do other than answering emails in a foreign language. :D
It's also holiday season.

Waited 1 year and stilk nor response even when I replied. I don't have no more patience. Plus, the email is not in foreign language! It's in german.

Maybe they don't answer family history queries, it is not unusual to get no response from clergy they don't have to give the information.

I've had the same problem from two American churches.  It's been years [3? 4? 5?] with no response to my inquiries about their stained glass windows which commemorate family members.  One of the churches even has a web page describing their windows but still no luck.

When I wanted information from a church, I wrote to the Church Parish council - good response.

I thought of an Idea. So, there are Genealogists in this region of Saxony so I hired one and he will go look in Niederfrohna's Parish Registers for around 50 euros and he will send photos of them.

Is that worth it?
