Ann Ringrose nee Anderson of Ireland then Coventry
« on: Saturday 22 July 23 13:53 BST (UK) »

I am looking for help to find more about where my 4G Grandmother, Ann Ringrose, came from.
I have her in censuses;

William's death;
Death Q3/1850 Foleshill, Warwickshire
William Ringrose

From Hannah's birth I have;
Birth Q2/1838 Foleshill and Sowe, Coventry
Christening 22 May 1838 Holy Trinity, Coventry
Hannah Ringrose
Parents William and Ann Ringrose
mmn Anderson

I cannot find a marriage for William and Ann.
Nor can I find Ann Ringrose after 1851, but I do have this;

Death Q2/1858 Coventry
Ann Anderson age 62 born c.1796

This doesn't appear to fit with any of the Ann Anderson's in Coventry.
Perhaps William and Ann were not married.

In 1851, son Richard is given as being born in Ireland, which explains not finding his birth or christening in England.

         CENSUS      1851
Brick Kiln Lane, St Michaels, New Arley, Coventry
Surname   Names   Rel.   Status   Age   Born   Occupation   Place Born

Ringrose   Sarah Ann   Daughter      2   1849      Coventry
Ringrose   Hannah   Niece      12   1839   Cotton Winder   Willenhall,Warks
Hannah is probably Richard’s sister

         CENSUS      1851

Was Richard Ann's son from a previous relationship?

I have;
Marriage 28 January 1818 Daresbury, Cheshire
William Ringrose of Warburton and Ann Hampson

They go on to have a family in Warburton.

I also have;

Christening 26 September 1781 St Michan's Catholic Church, Dublin
Elizabeth Ann Anderson
Parents George and Bridget Anderson

Christening 12 November 1800 Mallow County Cork, Ireland
Mary Ann Anderson
Parents William and Alice Anderson

Any help very much appreciated.

Stefan

I remember solving a similar case from Scotland. Try following Richard's census trail. It may mention a specific place later on, as mine did. Then see if it ties up with Ann Anderson, Dublin, 1781.

Did Richard end up in the US?

If so there is a photo of him and although US census say born England the US Find a Grave has born Tipperary Ireland.  Mother Ann Ringrose.

Hope this is the right person and it helps.

For info a family tree has the death for Ann (mother of Richard) as 1878 Utah.

No exact birth place given sadly just Ireland 1795.

So did she emigrate with the rest of his family or is this info incorrect.

County Sligo, St. John's Union (Church of Ireland), William Ringrose with an address given just as 'England' married Ann Anderson of Sligo on 11 November 1810. The witnesses to the marriage were William Shields and Lawrence Hartley.    William's occupation was given as '1st Dragon (sic) Guards'.

Thank you all. Lots of information there.
I hadn't found Richard, or Samuel, in England after 1851, so yes, he could have emigrated, taking his widowed mother, Ann, with him and his family. I must check to see if any of his siblings went as well. His sister Charlotte stayed in England and became my 3G Grandmother.

Quite a lot of US records for the family including this entry

Utah US Morman Pioneer Overland Travel records

Ann Anderson Ringrose 26 Nov 1793 - 29 Mar 1878

1870 census in Utah has an Ann Ringrose 75 widow described as blind possibly living with a Jones family - did she have a daughter Hannah who married a Jones?

Head of family is Hannah Jones 32 widow with 4 young children

Hannah Ringrose 18 residence Coventry
plus Samuel 38
Hannah 38
