John Rigby

I am on the search to find about this person called John Rigby. The information I have so far. He was born 1536 Standish Lancashire and he died June 21st 1600 at st Thomas waterings London. A possible married in 11th November 1583 at croston Lancashire. If anyone can help me and find out anything about him that would be great 👍

A John Rigby married a Dorothy Munks or Muncky (the transcription varies depending on which site you look at) in Croston 11 November 1583.

Wikipedia reckons he was born about 1570. He is patron saint of bachelors and torture victims (according to Wiki)

"Memoirs of missionary priests, as well secular as regular; and of other catholics, of both sexes, that have suffered death in England; ..." Author Richard Challoner, published 1741

There's a very lengthy descriptions of his first being questioned to his death and it opens -
"John Rigby was a younger son of Nicholas Rigby, a Gentleman of an ancient Family, of Harrock, in the Parish of Eccleston in Lancashire" No year of birth mentioned.

On page 280 he says his age is about 30 years and he is a bachelor and a maid.
