Hi

I have the plot number Section 6NG, Grave 429 at Earlham Cemetery, Norwich of my great aunt. I spent over an  hour looking for it 18 months ago along with my sister. Going back for another visit very soon and would love to find it and read what is on the headstone. Was given plot number by Norwich Council.
I have tried Find a Grave but not listed. Anywhere else I should try for some help please. Much appreciated.
Born 1879 Malden, Essex and died in Norwich 1961.

Did you get a map showing the section where the grave was located?

This shows the map of the cemetery and the location of 6NG.  It appears to be on the Bowthorpe Road side and Bond Street, one of the roads off Bowthorpe, is in the area of that section.

Thanks Girl guide. Yes I did get and still have a cemetery map but still couldn’t find it. I did have another grave (child) at Earlsfield Cementery that I was able to find wit the plot number etc. I guess I need to go back and look again.

Yes I did and still have a cemetery map but still couldn’t find it. Maybe there will be a gardener around in August that I can ask. Thanks again for your reply.

It is possible that there isn't a headstone. Not every grave has one.

Hi Elmoton

Now perhaps that is the answer. I assumed there would be and feel like I asked that question but thank u so much for the suggestion. I need to look into that.

I contact Norwich Records Office and they said Beatrice Alice Lincoln’s grace was a common grave which means a standard unmarked grace and therefore there will be no gravestone or monumental inscription. No wonder we couldn’t find it!! Never occurred to me.
Seems very very sad that there was no member of the family prepared to pay for a gravestone! Beatrice never married but had an illegitimate child  in 1909 who died himself many years after his mother died. Maybe they were estranged. Any thoughts please?
