Word on 1833 marriage settlement and advice please
« on: Friday 28 July 23 06:12 BST (UK) »
Would like help with reading the month on the third line please 'day of ?? '
It is the marriage settlement for Catherine Little, sixth daughter of Thomas Little of Spa Hill Carlow.

I am struggling to make sense of this deed and would like to locate the deed relating to the
Marquis of Lansdowne dated 1790.  I found the attached deed on Family Search via the Grantor
Index.  My question is what name would I use to locate the 1790 deed?  According to Wikipedia
the first Marquis of Lansdowne was William Petty-Fitzmaurice a former British Prime Minister.

Thankyou,
Regards,
Jen.

The name to search for in the index is Thomas Buddes.

Note you need to make sure you make a notation of the volume, page and memorial deed number.

I also note the familysearch film number and page AND copy the URL into my personal family history software.

Marriage settlements can be hard to find, for example, I have a marriage between Charles Creed and Catherine Norris but the name on the index is Knight, a close family friend and barrister.

Sorry I just realised you meant the earlier deed.

You might find it easier to locate by using the townland index for 1790

The memorial you refer to has already been abstracted by the lovely late Roz McC (one of Nick's transcribers) . The abstract might help you work out how this particular MS works.  It also mentions the townlands you could search for.

https://irishdeedsindex.net/mem.php?memorial=183303042

note: bottom left hand of the above page is a link to the townlands memorials mentioned in the MS

https://irishdeedsindex.net/townland/index.php
enter Ballythomas in the denominations field and Queens in the County field, hit search
click on volume 183303 and search for page 42 memorial 183303042

:-\ I think that just takes you back to the marriage settlement though
