Hi Everyone
My great uncle died in WW1 and sadly I have no photo of him. Feel sure I read that there was an ongoing project by the Commonwealth War? to record photos etc of all those who died. Does anyone know anymore about this please?
Sydney Walter Lincoln. Born 1890 Norwich. Died 2/11/1917 at The Egyptian Theatre of War, Palestine. He was with the Norfolk Regiment, No 200232. 1/4th Battalion.
Thank you.

There may be one in the local newspaper where he lived. That does rely on the relative sending one to the newspaper though. Have you tried looking at matching family trees to see whether there is a photo of him.

Hi.
Maybe I should contact his regiment, or the local newspaper. What do you mean by matching family trees please?
Thanks for your reply.

If you subscribe to Ancestry, or know someone who does, they maybe can find a matching Family tree for your soldier to see if there is a photo of him.
Otherwise, look for a newspaper for that year to see if there is a photograph of him.
