Ruardean Hill Drybrook
« on: Wednesday 09 August 23 08:12 BST (UK) »
I can not read this properly, have googled, and also tried asking local genealogist to no avail.

I have 2 queries.

1. Residence of Bride - could this be Melrose? OR Holeswoth Melrose, Ruardean Hill

2. Occupation of Bride - some sort of Verifier but there is some writing crossed out next to it

This is in 1963

I would be grateful for any help.

PDF of the cert and typed transcript attached.

The Gloucester Citizen, 15 Feb 1965, carries an advert under "SPARES and REPAIRS" with the address "Peates Melrose, Ruardean Hill"

I think the writing crossed out in the "rank or profession" box is her residence - initially put in the wrong box. It does look like  (something) verifier.  :-\

Thank you for resolving the residence query I had.

I still have my Bride's occupation query unresolved.  The Bride is some sort of Verifier, and this is what I am wondering.

Thanks again.

I think she might be a Hollerith verifier. Herman Hollerith developed the idea of punched cards which were used for data storage and processing, and later his company joined with others to become what is now IBM. This was long before 1963, but the term 'Hollerith card' remained in use, sometimes generically for any punched card.
