Hello everyone
I wonder if anyone can help with the couple of words highlighted in this document?
I think the second is "Ceylon" but I'd like your opinions please.

“The climate of Ceylon”—— .the illness might be ,caused by a tropical tapeworm Bilharzia often the condition of being infested by the worms was called Bilhsrziasis.
It is an intestinal parasite.

I think the first of the words is 'disease'.

I'd go with disease, now that it's been pointed out.
I worked in healthcare in Africa many years ago and "Wild Bill Harzia" was a regular attendee at the hospital. I've just looked at Google for the world spread of schistosomiasis (aka bilharzia) and I can't see that it occurs in Sri Lanka (Ceylon).

61st Regiment of Foot “South Gloucestershire”
Arrived in Ceylon 1828, the regiment remained in Colombo until October 1834 when they moved to Trincomalee.
In July 1837 the regiment returned to Colombo before moving to Kandy in August.
In February 1839 they marched to Colombo and in October boarded HMS Jupiter for the journey home.
