Parish death record at Aberdeen on 30 September 1574 - Help please
« on: Wednesday 23 August 23 13:20 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
The image below contains the parish death record of Patrick Drisdale at Aberdeen on 30 September 1574? -  from Scotlandspeople.

I think it is the entry in the middle of the page. Can anybody read what this actually says?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Best regards

Are you able to highlight the bit you think it is?  Finding it difficult to see the right entry  :-\
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Yes, it's very difficult to read but there appear to be 7 discrete entries/paragraphs on the page & each one contains "1574" in numerals.

Para number 4, starts I think with "Patrick Drisdale" - but I might be wrong.

Thanks & best regards

Thank you very much GR2.

The Scotlandspeople website record lists his death as being 30 September 1574, but I could not see anything on that image that resembled 'September' - I could see November and roman numeral dates in a few places but nothing else.

Your translation of this elderly Scottish document is much appreciated.

I'll let Scotlandspeople know so they can amend their records.

Best regards

The Spalding Club and New Spalding Club printed various early documents including the Register of the Burgesses of Aberdeen. I couldn't see an entry for Patrick but some years are missing, there's an explanation at the start of the volume. There is a Drysdale mentioned in 1619, first block paragraph near the top of page 124*, left hand side page in this link.

*printed page number as displayed on the scan, the 193 refers to the scan of the document as a whole

Hi SL

Many thanks for this link to some reference material for 'Thomas Drysdale  - The Islay Herald' (who normally resided in Leith) I had not seen it before and will copy it into the Drysdale tree.

I also copied Vols 1-5 of 'The miscellany of the New Spalding club' from the Internet Archive which looks like it could be a good source for reference material on Scottish genealogy in general.

Thanks again and best regards
