1818 OPR Baptism
« on: Thursday 24 August 23 11:53 BST (UK) »
The attached is from September 1818 in Cameron, Fife.

Trying to ascertain what the word is in the brackets after 6th for Alexander FARMER, bapt Sept 27, son of Alexander FARMER and Euphemia STUART.

There are a couple of others on the same page that have the same word whereas others have the word last.

Just wondering if it is meant to mean current. The one above was baptised 13 Sep and in brackets (born 27th Aug. last), and the one below was baptised 4 Oct and in brackets (born 26th Sept. last).

If it does mean current then he was born 6th September??

Many thanks

Could be "inst" meaning current month

It does look more like "curt." than inst. But I think the meaning is clear.

"Inst" is usually used with "ult".  Here he may be using "curt." and "last" .

Thanks Shaun.

I have seen "ult" and "inst" used before quite often in other PRs. Perhaps the Parish Clerk did not know about those.

Can now be closed.
