Emma Hiett
« on: Thursday 24 August 23 16:38 BST (UK) »
I am searching for Emma Hiett born 1837 Rodbourne Cheney Wiltshire.  Father Thomas B Hiett mother Hannah Brooks.  On 9th March 1862 she marries Edwin James Badderly born 1840.  She is pregnant and has their son Edwin George Badderly 15 Jun 1862, sadly he dies in 1863.  They have a daughter Bertha Alice Badderly in 1864.  Then Edwin dies in 1863.  I cannot find her anywhere after his death.  Bertha is living with her grandparents in 1871, 1881 and 1891census.  She marries Henry Augustus Elmer in 1895 and they runaway to New York with sister in law Alice Rebecca Badderly.  I have searched for Emma Hiett under Badderly and Hiett, I have looked at marriages and deaths and census's under both names but nothing seems to jump out at me.  There was a death but the person was born 1816 so not the one.  I have just hit a brick wall.  I think she married above herself and perhaps they disowned her after Edwin's death.  I have looked at asylums also but again nothing concrete.  Any help much appreciated.

Did you see in the burial records that Edwin was buried 17 feet down, at extra cost?

Husband died 1865 - not 1863

What you haven't mentioned is that all the events above took place in London

Sorry - I wrote that Emma wasn’t in that grave  but she is - or rather Emma Eliza is - Carole mentioned her.

In 1891 74/142
George B Badderly and family are at 108 Alderney Street, Pimlico. That is the residence of Emma Elizabeth on her death in 1884.
Could she be a sister to Edwin?
