I think we need a much better image in order to be of any assistance to you.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids. They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

It is slightly out of focus. We really need a bit more of the certificate to compare writing.

You can attach an image here up to 500kB.
It's best to scan the image at 300dpi, yours is scanned at 96dpi

Might be baker ... look at the ba of banns
Almeroth, Germany (probably Hessen). Mawer, Softley, Johnson, Lancaster, Tatum, Bucknall (E.Yorks, Nfk, Lincs)

I agree it looks like baker.
Yes, the 'b' looks like the 'b' in banns, and the last two letters look like the 'er' in 'driver' on the lower line.
Do you have census records for this person? Were they a baker in any of those records?
