Trying to decipher handwriting on a irish marriage cert

Hi Guys,
I have found a marriage certificate for a potential relative of mine but unable to decipher what the rank/profession of James Nolan says.
I have attached below- would really appreciate any help

Hi Katherine and welcome to RootsChat, it is a difficult one. Have you found him on the 1901 census which will give a clue to hi occupation. This will bring it back up the board for further answers.

I think it is unusual to have no residence stated, neither have a residence.

I think that this (vagus) may the latin word for traveller, wanderer, gypsy

Not sure what the letter in front of vagus is.

I was thinking something similar - ‘A vagus’ - maybe similar to a vagrant?

I would agree, for although I've only seen 'Vagus' appear under Residence, such as this marriage example from 1931 (Charles Power and Kathleen Ward) ...

... it also makes sense in this instance, where no residence has been recorded.
