Finding my late mothers birth mother
« on: Tuesday 05 September 23 17:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

I’m trying to obtain my late mothers adoption records and find out information about her birth mother and possible family.

I have her adoption order, certificate and a letter from East Ham juvenile court.
I also have her birth certificate which shows she was born at 262 Victoria park
Road, hackney which was a home for un married mothers.  I also have her mothers name and address at time of birth.

My mum was born and adopted in hackney. Her adoption was registered in East Ham

Please advise what the next process will be

Thank you

Welcome to RootsChat!

It might help if you provide a time period for your mother's adoption; what year was she born?

Welcome from me too.

We don't know your mothers birth year but I am assuming your grandmother would now be of an age when she is deceased?

As your mother is also deceased it is ok to give us her name/birthdate plus the name of her mother.

There are a couple of websites if you would prefer to do the research yourself but a lot depends on the commonality of the surname as to success.

Have you taken a DNA test?

There is a death for a Betty Marguerite Dunn, born 1925, in Ceredigion in 1st quarter 2019.

Where did Keith J G Dunn die?

Hi

Can you edit your post to remove the names of the children born 1952 & 1956 as Rootschat does not allow details of living persons to protect their privacy.

It is highly likely that the children born in 1952 and 1956 are still alive, so you need to remove their names.

Where were these children born, and where did the mother marry Mr Dunn?

Added: Mr Dunn died in Newport.

Birth registration

March qtr 1925 Betty Marguerite Marsh - Hackney 1B 568  Her mothers maiden name was Steward

It's likely her parents were Albert E Marsh & Lilian M Steward who married June qtr 1918 Edmonton 3A 975

Use www.freebmd.org.uk & search for Marsh births with mmn Steward as Betty had 3 siblings
