Thomas Bell and Mary Ann Griffith
« on: Thursday 14 September 23 21:25 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on Thomas Bell or Mary Ann Griffith.  I think Bell was from Birmingham or Coventry, England.  They had 3 children:  Florence (1864-1955), Amy (1868-1944), and John.

I don't have birth or death dates or place of burial.

Good morning, Vintage77.

The General Register Office has:

BELL, FLORENCE
Mother's Maiden Name  GRIFFITHS
GRO Reference: 1866  S Quarter in BIRMINGHAM  Volume 06D  Page 153

BELL, AMY
Mother's Maiden Name  GRIFFITHS
GRO Reference: 1868  J Quarter in BIRMINGHAM  Volume 06D  Page 207

Could be them.

I haven't found a John.

Stefan
Oh! What a tangled web we perceive,
where ancestors try to hide and deceive.

Thomas and Mary Ann BELL are relatively easy to find on the various censuses. Thomas says he is born c 1837 in
Sheffield, Mary Ann born c1837 in Birmingham.

This looks probable for Thomas BELL in 1851 in Birmingham with parents John (brazier) and Ann and family.

Elizabeth GRIFFITH (mother-in-law)  60  Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Elizabeth GRIFFITH (sister-in-law)  20  Birmingham  (laquerer)

You can use the GRO Index to search for Thomas and Mary Ann's children using her maiden name (GRIFFITHS) free to search, though you need to register:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

1858  Tom  (West Bromwich)
1860  Elizabeth  (Aston)
(can't readily see a birth for Alfred c1862 and John c1864)  :-\
1866  Florence  (Birmingham)
1868  Amy  (Birmingham)
1870  Mary Ann  (West Bromwich)
