Any recommendations for how to create or download a family tree chart. It starts with a woman who was adopted. I have her adoptive parents' and her birth parents' names. Her birth mother and her adoptive mother were sisters. It goes back 7 generations. In some generations, I want to be able to include some siblings. I've made one freehand with the names arranged pyramid-style with the furthest back at the top but I quickly run out of space. I've seen some with the furthest back name on the left and descendants in columns to the right but they don't have the flexibility I need (siblings, adoptions). Am I trying to do too much in one chart?

Yes, you are trying to do too much.

If you look at software like Family Historian, Roots Magic, Reunion etc they all print charts of various formats but I have not found any that prints what I want in such a manner that I do not need to use the dozens of printed pages to paper a wall.

If you look at My Heritage, they have eight Family Tree formats to choose from.

You may be better creating your own in the layout you require using a Publishing app.

I have printed out a few Pedigree charts (direct ancestors) going back six and seven generations for family with them as the home person, these were printed on single A3 pages and are just readable.

Do you use a family history program?

I use Roots Magic and you can create various charts, download them and manipulate them to your own specs. I’m sure other family history applications can do similar. It’s a bit fiddily to get it looking how you want it though.

7 generations plus including some siblings will create a very large chart.

If it’s very large, you can save the file on a usb and take it to a printers, they have large plotters which can do the job but be mindful of the finished size, you might not have a wall big enough

I've done several charts like this in the past but they were roughly 3 feet high and 6 feet long. All done on acetate roll using rapidograph pen/ink then taking to local architectural printing company (where I purchased acetate from). This was done quite a while ago and the cost was very reasonable (not sure I was charged full rate). The finished tree could then be rolled into mailing tubes (for storage or posting) and at that time postage was far, far more than the cost of acetate & printing. One of the big advantages was being able to add (and in a few cases) remove details for 2nd edition.
