Looking for McCrinks and McGuills
« on: Tuesday 24 October 23 18:19 BST (UK) »
Hi All, I'm new to this site, but am hopeful that someone can help me.
I have been tracing my family history on my paternal side and am beginning to lose little direction with most of my relative being named the same.
I have managed to confidently trace back to Patrick McCrink (born circa 1856)] amongst all the Francis' there seems to be. I have found the majority were from Dromintee.

I have also been looking into another side of the family and have progressed to as far back as Thomas McGuill (circa 1835) who lived in Cloghinny, Forkhill, Armagh.

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to proceed.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Is this your Patrick - father, Francis and marriage to Margaret Daley? There is a witness, James McGrink.

If so, it gives context for others to search.

Dromintee parish record - baptism Hugh McCrink 26th June 1863 - parents Francis and Margaret Hanratty with McCrink sponsors.

Is this your family or one of your other Francis?

Thanks for the replies Heywood.

At the moment it is a spaghetti mess of all the same names (male and female) but with different dates so deciphering is taking its time. So far I have been able to get back as far as Patrick's father (Francis McCrink - who I believe was married to Catherine Clarke in 1835) however through my journey there have been a lot of Francis McCrink's pop up. I'm just not sure other than through the search engines in Ancestry.com or MyHeritage.com - are there any other reliable sources worth checking out (especially for records in the 1800's?)
