Hi,
for those of you who are interested in William Winde: I think he started as a pupil of Dutch architectural painter Dirck van Delen. On 28 July 1657, Winde was a witness, together with Wilhelm Schubert van Ehrenberg, for a deed drawn up by notary P.L. Scheuringh in Bergen op Zoom for Dirck van Delen, who was also present. Ehrenberg was quite young and at the beginning of his career as an architectural painter. He was Van Delen's pupil for sure. Winde was even younger, which is rare for a witness, but not so much when he was Van Delen's pupil. Many 17th Cent. architects started as painters. There are many links between Van Delen and Gerbier, Lord Craven and Heusden (where some of William's siblings were born). I intend to do some research of Winde's Dutch family history and am very interested in William's English beginnings with Craven and Gerbier.
