William and Robert Wind Died 1819 Lamesley
« on: Sunday 05 November 23 15:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks. Sorry to be back so soon. I have found two Winds who did the same year in the same place. William Wind aged 93 and Robert Wind aged 11. They are both recorded as passing in 1819 in Eighton Banks, Durham. The records are on Page 38/39 of the Lamesley Burial records.
This is very interesting to me as Eighton Banks is slap in the middle of my area of interest (Lamesley, Whickham, Gateshead).  It also places this William Wind (born ABOUT 1726) in a date and area of special interest as my line comes to a brickwall at "a William Wind" in the Lamesly region (Cows Close) estimated to be born in the early 1730s. 1726 is close enough to be of great interest. The problem is, who is this family?  I assume that Robert aged 11 is the son of a "Wind" and William aged 93 is the "grandfather Wind".
So who is this family and most especially, where was William born and how does he fit in?
I have asked something similar previously, but not in this context. These two deaths may just locate a family I have not been aware of. I appreciate any input from folks with more experienced sleuthing skills than mine.

A tree on Ancestry suggests that Robert Wind who died in 1819 was born 1808 (bp 1810) Washington, Durham to Martin Wind and Catherine Gawen.

Does that fit in your tree and with any other detail you have?

Hi Cas. Yes, I have the record of the twins but have not been able to find any marriage to Mary or a link to that William. I am still not clear how Thomas Wind fits into the extend Wind families, but he is in the right area of County Durham at least.

My line brickwalls at a William Wind who I "estimated" as being born about1735, but it is a BIG guess. There is another William Wind born 1731 Lumley, who IS NOT on my line and is often quoted in error on Ancestry. There is a William Wind who lives in Lamesley (Cows Close) and raises a family there that is my tree. What I am trying to do is include or exclude William (c1726) as the same guy !!
@Phen, thanks. yes I am aware of that one. I think we are dealing with an extended family but I cannot nail them all down. At present I am aware of at least two Roberts B1808 (to Thomas and Mary and Martin & Cath. Thank you all for checking.

On my records, I have a William Wind born 1727 Whickham married to a Elizabeth Curley. But I don't seem to have kids that match. But maybe I have not connected them all or mixed something up. Maybe this is the one in the Lamesley burials?

Hi. I think I am going with the theory that William Wind was born Nov 1727 Whickham to parents John Windd and Margaret (Smith). William Wind married an Elizabeth Curtley 1751 and they have at least chilfren Ann and Jane. So, I don't think this William is anything to do with my Willian c1735ish in Cow Close. But being that all these areas are stone's throw apart (Gateshead, lamesley, Whickham etc, I think they are related somehow. So Im still hunting all Winds in the area.
