Two GRO entries?
« on: Wednesday 22 November 23 19:08 GMT (UK) »
Hello, newbie here, research my father-in-law's genealogy as a Christmas present. I'm using FreeBMD to find the GRO index so I can order a birth certificate for his grandfather. However, I'm getting two  identical entries for the same quarter and I'm not sure which one to order. See attached photo. Does this mean there were two people named Horace Froggatt born in the same district in the same quarter? Seems unlikely. I'm confused as to what the two entries mean or which one represents his grandfather. Thanks in advance for any insights.

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp for the search.

This looks like possibly an error in the original indexes as it's also present in the image from which freebmd transcribes.

Thank you so much. So I need to order the 9C 362. The 9C 453 is a transcription error from "Florence" to "Horace"? Also I'm curious where you are getting this info from as I thought I needed to order the certificate to find out things like mmn. Sorry I'm sure this is such a basic question.

Scratch that. I've found the mmn info in the GRO's own index search.
