The OP's family have Edna's history. Have met and corresponded including meeting Edna when still living. The details mentioned here a couple of times in other posts.

When Lena's son Stanley DALY joined the ww2 forces his NOK was mother Lena.

For some reason it is shown in his file that he needed to sign a statutory declaration stating his mother was a permantent residence of Perth in 1944.

The address he gave was 197 Hay Street Perth East which is the adddress of Lena's sister, Ida, and husband James  at the time of James' death in 1952.

I think Lena kept quite close contact with her sister.

It is my opinion that Lena "fabricated" a reunion with Ernest before his return to Aust. and made the public newspaper birth announcement about Evelyn to ligitimise her pregnancy.

Thank you Merlin, that put a end to my theory that Edna may have been Ernest's. I was wrong again :-[  When i seen Ernest had been home on leave Aug 1916 i was thinking maybe Lena fell pregnant then which is why i wanted her DOB.

Thanks  :)

Hi all who have contributed in searching for Evelyn. all of above information I have and aware of.
To clear up Edna's adoption, Lena stated that Ernest was not her father. She also stated that Edna's father had not contributed anything to her welfare or upbringing. She also stated she did not want Ernest or her parents to know.

Please if possible just concentrate on Evelyn. Edna's families and mine are all aware of Edna's plight and we correspond and occasionally visit each other when time and travel permit and both their families and mine are happy to have been united after many years of uncertainty.

Yes Lena and Ida were close as were her families. In 1952 Lena (living in Petersham, NSW), took me to visit her Sister and siblings who were living at Hay Street East, Perth. I was 7 at the time. I met grand aunt Ida and her daughters Ivy and Elsie for the first time. We stayed some time as I went to East Perth state school for a term. We had travelled by train one way and ship (Strathnaver) the other. I also met my other grand mother Eva Kealley, my dads mother.

I still see Dot ( my second cousin) the youngest daughter of Ida on occasions who lives not far from me in Mandurah, WA.

As it has been difficult to get any lead on Evelyn, assumption is that she was privately adopted to a friend willing to take her on. There is no evidence that families from either side raised her.

Not knowing her adopted surname or married name, if she married, it is a difficult task to find her.

I also acknowledge that her adopted family may not wish to be contacted. I respect this but hope that they too might like to know of her other families existence and ancestry.

I appreciate the help that has been given by all contributors, any further information will be appreciated but keeping in mind respect for her families feelings towards this matter.

Alan
