I hope I can get some help about Robert he is supposedly the brother of Jack Rattenbury. I am a descendant of Robert. I was sent a rough family tree by my dads cousin and it is rough it jumps all over the place. I would appreciate any assistance from you.
many thanks in advance Tom Rodenby

Realise there is a clash with the newspaper clip that stated that father John was press ganged before son John was born in 1777.

There is also another baptism showing for a Sarah Rattenbury on 2 May 1790 in North Bovey, Devon to the same parents. Maybe a co-incidence of names or the newspaper story not correct. Hard to say really.

Another baptism with a slightly different spelling of surname that might be connected:

Mary Radenbury
Baptism 21 Mar 1786 North Bovey, Devon
Religion Anglican
Father John Rattenbury
Mother Anne Rattenbury

I assume you have found the memoirs by Jack Rattenbury? See www.smuggling.co.uk/ebooks/rattenbury.html

He makes no reference to siblings in these recollections.
