Looking for a connection between the names of Chisholm and Elliot. My two times great grandmother has the middle name Chisholm, last name Elliot, (Margaret Chisholme Elliot) born in 1821 at Gordon, Roxburgh

There are many queries on Rootschat with reference to second names of ancestors.

Sometimes it is an earlier family name passed down and other times not.

It could be a friends surname, employer etc.

My Louttid in a childs name (Elizabeth Louittid Leggett) comes from her Sisters Marriage to a Louttid.

You have to trace back generations sometimes to find a connection by Marriage or to rule one out.

Henry seems to be an only child, if Joseph is indeed his father and I do not see a marriage for Joseph on SP.
