Happy Birthday Rootschat and Thank You to Trystan and Sarah. I haven't been here very long (although I had heard of the site on and off) and I haven't asked any of my difficult questions yet, but I can see it is a good, helpful, sociable, place to be. The future is bright. (If you start needing donations I am sure you will say so!)

Well, you are very welcome. We did make RootsChat pay its way in the end - but thank you, that was very kind of you.

We hope you get lots of help, and learn something interesting along the way.
Trystan

It's been 19 years for me. Thank you for everyone one of them.

Looking back at my early posts, I'm still, unsurprisingly, chasing the same families but for most my research is now generations further back.  Rootschat has been such a great help over the years.  It's a site that members can give to and take from, with people freely giving their time, sharing their research & knowledge.

Long may it continue.............

Happy Anniversary to Rootschat and Tristan and Sarah.

I have spent many happy years on here, initially asking for help and then helping others.

It has helped me and I am sure others, through some dark times in our life, having a place to help others and forget out own problems.
It also kept the brain cells working!

Congrats,
Trish

Congratulations from me too, a relative newbie in my 17th year. Special thanks to Trystan, Sarah and the Mods. And to all those who have helped me and my friends over the years.

And special thoughts for those who have helped me and gone before such as Mike from Leicester & Guy

Now into 2024, while I had done some genealogy beforehand, it was Feb 2004 when I really became a hardcore genealogist as I was in London and went to the FRC in Clerkenwell as I wanted to check a birth of an actor born in my home town, to try to get the exact DOB. All I found was his name and district of birth in Births registered in April, May and June 1933. I was then told I had to buy the cert to get the full details. But I knew he died in 1998 and got his exact DOB from the registry of deaths in 1998.

At the same time it got me thinking about really delving into my own tree, and the rest is history.

Thanks to Sarah, Trystan and all the Moderators for giving us this wonderful playground. I, and others migrated from the then, "BBC Forum" to Rootschat on a recommendation from jc26red and have never looked back. This free Family History website is unique in so many ways and I am so pleased to be a part of it for the last 17 years. The help that I received with my Family History was invaluable and has helped knock down so many brick walls for me across the globe.
Having also had many torn cracked and creased old photos brought back to life, I decided that I would like to repay the kindness and help that I had received by purchasing a photo editing software to give something back to the Rootschat community. After a shaky start, I was soon able to contribute to the forums which is the essence which Rootschat is all about. Happy 20th Anniversary...Long may it continue.

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New year.

Thank you from me, too, for several years, since I discovered this site, of information, fine advice, and
even proxy friendship. It's excellent, long may it flourish, and its founders and contributors.
