Was your Ernest William Woodhead the one born 1904, married a Mabel Wilson, and was the director of Education in Norwich, Bradford, and other places, and had a daughter H, and son P ?
There are trees at Ancestry saying the man I described died in in 1985, but he did not.
There is a massive obituary for the above described Woodhead in the Kentish Express, 29 Sep 1961, stating he died "last Thursday".
His funeral was in Maidstone, and he was cremated in Charing. No mention on what was done with the ashes.
Tons of info on his life, and several relatives are mentioned.
He had taken a train to London, and fell ill, and died shortly after in Westminster Hospital.
Freebmd shows a death index for him that matches perfectly.
The probate index gives his address, and names his wife Mabel.
