I wonder if the 1871 digital death image might name the informant as Olive/Oliva.

Added: in 1871 census Olives occupation is noted as Landed Property, sounds like she inherited part of the farmlands, Alfred Lea is noted as a Student & Landowner in 1871.

Thomas Lea also left a will. Probate on Ancestry.

Thomas Lea's 1st wife, Sarah born circa 1804, Stapenhill, Staffs.and son Alfred also born 1834, Stapenhill. Cannot find a marriage for them or a surname for Sarah. Must have been circa 1833

Thomas Lea's 1st wife Sarah according to 1851/61 census was born Staplehill, Derbyshire, Alfred the son born 1834 Derbyshire. Also in 1851 Thomas records his birthplace as Vowchurch, Herefordshire

Emily Mary Lea's mother was Olive or Olivia Andrews. In the 1871 census, Olivia Lea is a widow living with her daughter.


Have you the 2.50 digital image for Emily Mary Lea birth, it should note a fathers name and occupation.

Thanks Ladyhawk. Had most of that but not in great detail.

Out of interest, Thomas' father, Joseph Lea married a Mary Symonds in Madley, 1796.
