York Census Lookup please - HAWLEY

Hello All,

I don't like to ask for "Blanket" lookups, but I have had this Brickwall for a number of years, and getting desperate!

I  hoping SKS has an searchable 1841 /1851 census for York (the Town) and could look for anyone with the surname - HAWLEY

My 4xggranfather was William Hawley, born in York in 1799. I am planning to travel to York to look for his family, and was hoping for a place to start.

I only have part of the 1851 census index for York
There is one family called Hawley.

George and Elizabeth Hawley , both 30 , and both state they were from Sherburn . They have three or four children.

The reference number is 2354/215

If you think they may be part of your family , post again , quoting the reference , someone will probably have the CDrom, and be able to give you further details....

My family were all Hawleys coming from Sherburn in Elmet just outside York - mainly blacksmiths - if this rings a bell do get in touch
