Help with deciphering Census 1861 Great Shelford
« on: Friday 03 May 24 07:47 BST (UK) »
Hi
Could someone tell me what the words in the Occupation for Sarah and Mary Robinson might be please? Family Search has Mary's occupation as courtier but that seems unlikely and I wonder what the words in the circle are asl well

Many thanks
Meegan

Thanks Kay. Nurse looks to be one of the words in the circle. I've never seen that description before but a big help

Thanks again

Two lines above is "Nurse" also followed by "Not ___".     Could it be "Not serv(ant)"?  Family members taking care of someone?

That has introduced some new surnames so I must do some more research, to find out which other children my Mary and her husband had other than my Joseph. Thanks a lot for the ideas
