James HIRST born Dinnington, YKS 1876 (45 years 5mos), Alice born Cannock Staffs 1870 (50 years 11 mos), Ivy born Worksop, Notts 1906 (15 years 4mos) and Holly born Todwick, YKS 1908 (13 years 0mos) are at Fisher Street in Retford Notts in 1921 but I can't currently find them in 1911 to see how long James and Alice claim to be married.

Sheffield Daily Telegraph, Tuesday, February 14, 1922
At Retford yesterday Amos Edward Bowen of Fisher’s Row, Thrumpton, was bound over in £10 for six months for assaulting James HIRST, of the same row, and fined £2 for damage to windows in plaintiff’s house.

There’s a longer more detailed account in

Retford & Worksop Herald & North Notts Advertiser Tuesday, February 14 1922

a snippet of the article

address given James Hurst 85 Thrumpton Lane
says defendant’s mother was witness’s housekeeper....Mrs Bowen had made remarks to witness about being late….....Mrs Harriet Alice Bowen corroborates Hurst’s evidence, and alleged that her son caused the bother….....Edith Bowen sister of defendant said at that time she was living at Hurst’s house, she had gone to bed when she heard quarrelling she came downstairs……….

Hi Ladyhawk, I too played around with this post and found similar information. All Elijah’s siblings had mmn as Bowden but could not find his birth registration c1854.

SS - I'd not looked at any Bowen birth registrations, I thought Elijah BOWEN’s mothers maiden name would be SAMUEL as Francis BOWEN married Ann SAMUEL 17 May 1840 Dudley and on the transcript her father named as Samuel SAMUEL   ???

A John BAGLEY is lodging with widow Ann BOWEN and her family in 1871 and in 1861 he's with Ann and husband Francis Bowen and their family. 1881 census Ann noted as married to John BAGLEY her children Francis, Elijah & Phoebe BOWEN (noted as wife's children) - a Phebe Bowen was one of the witnesses to Elijah's marriage

EDIT to add just seen the full m/c on anc*y for Francis BOWEN, bricklayer & Ann SAMUEL
she's noted as single father Samuel Samuel, occ forgeman, one of the witnesses John SAMUEL

EDITED again I think there's another Francis & Ann Bowen and the above is their marriage they can be found together on censuses

add- Burial of Ann Bagley wife of John
