Out of interest, do you know how long it took to get your certificate? I put in an order for Fanny Henrys birth certificate with all of the info I know and paid the research fee but that was 18 days ago and I have had no response.

The record arrived within 10 days. I think if you have all the details and do not need them to search, it is quicker.

As you don't know any details about Fanny's birth, they will have to search - and may not find anything.

The death certificate has arrived for James Henry, quicker than I thought!

Although I am struggling to read half of it, any ideas from these? I've attached below and included a rotated version.

I can see that the online transcription had a mistake with the address (230 W. 44th) as there is an E on there which may have been the correction.

The residence on the birth certificate for his daughter Annie Henry was 316 E. 44th Street which is a short walk down the street from that address.

Any idea what the cause of death is I can't read that at all, or the place of death?

Place of death is Presbyterian Hospital.  I can't read the cause of death, but looks like it starts with In or maybe Ju.

Just looked this up and someone else was searching for that as the cause of death, apparently there was a 1896 New York heat wave that a lot of people died from:

That may be what it was as its the same year.

On the rotated version on the right hand side, can anyone make out what it says next to place of death, it doesn't look like it says Presbyterian Hospital in that field. Also the dwelling below really struggling with this handwriting.

Jas (James Henry) age 41,  white,  married,  hostler,  Ireland, 11 yrs in USA
No information about parents, probably because the hospital who completed the paper work did not know.

His death was at the Presbyterian hospital on 11th Aug 1896, 11.30 pm.
There was an inquest held and cause of death was ?Insolaleon?
Burial 14 Aug 1896 at Evergreen cemetery

The cause of death is not clear to me – I will work on it  a bit.
