I still haven't figured out where and when she arrived in the USA, do you know what port people heading for Allendale from Ireland would arrive in the US?

No, l don’t really know. Possibly she arrived into Canada. Same I suppose for James Henry.

Could be, interestingly enough Marys daughter Mary Henry moved to Canada and died 29 Sep 1934 Cochrane, Ontario, Canada. Not sure if that's relevant though.

Might be worth searching Canadian passenger lists between Ireland and Canada if there are any.

For your records - Mary Lampkin was mistranscribed as Laupkin  on the ancestry version 1931 Canadian Census.

Here is a link to another 1931 census record.

This might be another you may not have.

Randolph Edward Lampkin was the son of Stanley James Henry Lampkin and Rita Cousineau who married 12 August 1939 Schumacher, Cochrane, Ontario.

Hi Kris – just some thoughts   …….

I think Mary Welsh was born a bit earlier than 1871 or she would have only been abt 15-16 when she married.
I note that her sister Fanny (born abt 1853) was in Manhattan at the same time as Mary and James Henry.
It looks as if Mary’s first child must have been named after her sister Fanny. So they must have been close to each other.
Fanny’s husband, Archibald McDonnell, was a “hostler foreman” in 1900 census. You would think that James Henry may have worked for / with him. Their immigration was in 1883 and maybe Mary was with them or followed soon after. Did Mary and James go to NY because of them?

I notice that Mary is not with her family in 1881 Scotland census. If she was only 10-12 years old, where was she?

Are you aware that you can search records for Culfeightrin, County Antrim?
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0408
If you scan through, you may come up with Welsh / Walsh names.
There are various books, and sometimes you need to find the correct book first.

I found the baptism for James WALSH - no age at baptism recorded
Son of Edward Walsh and Susan Tyler (Taylor)
James WALSH baptism 15 July 1863 Culfeightrin, County Antrim,
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633142#page/49/mode/1up
(Note the word “convert” in margin)

[An extract from the parish register appears in an application from James Walsh in 1922, gives these dates

1860 Alexander son of Edward and Susan Welsh , Culfeightrin
1863 Wm John son of Edward and Susan Welsh , Culfeightrin
1864 blank of Edward Welsh
1867 Susan daughter of Edward and Susan Welsh , Culfeightrin ].   No mention of Mary

Children baptisms (indexed on family Search) -
Parents Edward Walsh and Susan Taylor
•   Edward WALSH baptism 31 May 1856 (This was in Rasharkin, Antrim)
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633199#page/90/mode/1up

•   Alexander Walsh  - Culfeightrin, County Antrim    2 Jan 1846  This is an error and should be 1876 (see attached)
•   Wm John Walsh  - same baptism date and place
Ages of the children when baptised are not recorded, but they were obviously teenagers.
Again, we have the word “converts”.
