Trying to decipher handwriting
« on: Monday 10 June 24 09:27 BST (UK) »
Hi Geneaology Sleuths.
I am trying to figure out the occupation of one of my hubby's ancestors - as stated on the 1891 England census. In 1891 he is 15 years old and his occupation is listed as what looks like a "Mit Frazer" - see attachment. Anyone any idea what one of these is, or could be referring to. If it's of any help, ten years later in the 1901 census, he is an iron moulder. All this time he is located in Derbyshire. Any suggestions welcome! :-)

removes fraze, i.e. rough edges, or burrs from castings, bolts, screws, rails, etc., by hand filing, by emery wheel, by machine or by power press; sometimes specifically designated, e.g. bolt frazer.

That is interesting Bookbox, but I would say he is a Nut Frazer. (I think Nut Fettler would be the more usual term.)
