Breackenhirst Farm New Monkland
« on: Monday 10 June 24 12:12 BST (UK) »
Trying to find out anything about Breackenhirst ( Brackenhirst ?) Farm, New Monkland around about 1895/1900.

Also, Dechmont Farm, Cambuslang around 1925.

Who was living at either of these places and what were they doing.  I can't find any lists . My granny's family going back farmed on Islay and I've found records, but I'm finding it more difficult to find records when some branches of the family moved to Lanarkshire. Any tips or suggestions or direct information about the above farms? Thanks.

The earliest hit for a search of "Brackenhirst Farm" at BNA (there are no hits for "Breackenhirst Farm") is in The Coatbridge Express 20/11/1901. This is a long article about a dispute over access to church pews and ownership of cushions. The defendant was Robert Stark, Brackenhirst Farm, Airdrie. The article refers to a date of 'about 1894' so it is clear that Robert Stark was in the area at that time, but his address in 1894 isn't explicitly stated to be the same as at the time of the court proceedings.

Snippet from West Lothian Courier 29th Nov 1925
"Mr Andrew Davidson, Dechmont Farm will shortly be leaving for sunny Essex"
Another earlier piece from an advert
"Apply Davidson, Dechmont Farm Uphall"

Possibly Wester Dechmont Farm, Uphall in later snippet mentions surname Russell.
