1871 census address search please
« on: Monday 10 June 24 21:47 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would like some help in searching just by address please, for the 1871 census.

2 Court Constance Street, Liverpool

Robert & Elizabeth Cockburn had a baby at that address in late May of 1871.  I've searched every which way for them without luck, so I wondered if searching only by address would lead to a discovery.

I don't know for sure if they'd moved to Liverpool yet, but the census is very close to the birth in May.

Many thanks,
Charlotte

"2 Court, Constance Street" would contain several houses.  The number appears to relate to a court OFF Constance Street.  It is on the east edge of this map, surveyed 1890.

Earlier map when the courts had names:

Added: Regardless of the map, the normal way of giving addresses was in the form
e.g. "3 House, 2 Court, Constance Street".

This is in the general area of Islington, which is a main road across the north edge of both maps.

Added: Before 1906 these courts had been replaced by larger terraced houses.

Thanks Bookbox  - I wasn't aware of that link.  I used to have all the Lancashire 1871 as a CD set with address search but got rid some years ago
