Any help suggestions please. Tracing Winnifred Violet XXXXX. I can find no trace of a marriage to Charles Oswald Cawthorn-Mady but she appears as Winnifred Cawthorne with Charles through 1920s and 30s at 238 New Kent Road, then 1939 at 173 Southwark Bridge Road. Death Cert 1 Nov 1940 at metropolitan Convalescent Home Walton on Thames, Winnifred Violet Mady of 173 Southwark Bridge Rd SE1 wife of Charles Mady a motor lorry driver. I have  a 1934 directory entry for Violet Cawthorn Mady a singing and music teacher or 238 New Kent Rd. C1921 has her born Cork Ireland in 1888 (unusual number of diverse visitors). her death certificate has no 'former name'. No trace of children for birth certificate mother's former name. I can find no trace of a marriage. Where else might i find a clue to her her family name. Thx Paul

What is the background for Charles?

When and where was he born, any marriage or children prior to being with Winnifred?

Looking at Winifred's date of birth 15th December 1888, could this be a possible birth in Cork, I know it's a couple of years out :-\:

Winifred Agnew born 15th December 1885 Woodbine Cottage, Glenbrook, Cork
Parents: Thomas Agnew, at sea, an engineer
Henrietta Agnew nee Sargent

I am never sure how much info to post in support of the question: I am a Mady and reasonably confident of the Mady info (see Waye Tree on A****try). Agree Charles and Winnifred were not 'together' circa 1911. No marriages children prior that i can find find. I shall hit City Ref library and Southwark for directories to see if there is more on Winnifred (Violet) music career. I don't know why Charles sometime used Cawthorne, then Cawthorne Mady, then Mady: could be convenience or current relation with family.

I think he was down as step son on census so his mother Cawthorne name married a Mady name?
