Thank you for that, could I ask where did you find the information that he was a writer, really interested,   his son Spencer Daniel Barker was a pottery engraver, and I was looking along the lines that perhaps he was in the pottery business.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond

Not emeltom, but the images of the original parish registers of St Peter Ad Vincula, which contain the information she mentioned, can be viewed on FindMyPast.

Regarding the pottery aspect, later that year on 17th December 1806 another William Barker of Burslem (at least I think it's Burslem?) and Elizabeth married at St Peter Ad Vincula. Interestingly, this William was a potter. Her maiden name was Whitemore. They both signed by mark, with no witnesses sharing a surname with either party.

Have you ruled out this couple as Spencer's parents?

Hi Queenie, Thank you for responding,  I hadn't ruled out Elizabeth Whitemore, the only reason I had gone with Elizabeth Morris was a Newspaper article where a Thomas Morris had allegedly murdered his wife Elizabeth Morris (my Elizabeth Morris parents) a witness was a Charles Barker, William Barker had a uncle and a brother both names Charles.   Am I thinking too much into this.
The wedding certificate Elizabeth Morris had signed her name and on her last will and testament she had signed her name and the 'Elizabeth' signature looked very similar.

Okay, I think there are 2 William & Elizabeth Barkers having children at the same time in Burslem parish, which makes the situation rather confusing!

The parish registers do shed a little more light, specifically:
(1808) Baptism of Mary, daughter of William Barker of Atherage.
(1809) Baptism of Spencer Daniel Barker, son of William of Longport.

So one resided in Atherage, and the other in Longport.

Longport William had (up to 1815):
- Charles Bowyer (1812)
- Ann (1815) - her baptism record confirms this William was an office clerk.

Atherage William had (up to 1815):
- John (1812)
- Mary (1814) - her baptism record confirms this William was a potter.

So this confirms that you have the right William and Elizabeth.

May I ask what information you are specifically looking for? It sounds like you have already done good research and know who William and Elizabeth's parents are.

Queenie  :)

Thank you Queenie,  Think I was over thinking it and getting really confused.  You have confirmed what I was looking at, I can now put it to rest and move on (I hope). At one point I was going to disown them and put myself up for Adoption. ::) ;D
Thank you again for taking the time.
