Hi everyone,
I have a DNA connection to a Mcateer family from Annaghlone and I am trying to figure out a connection between my ancestor, Patrick Mcentee/Mcateer/Mcintyre and the family of Patrick Mcintyre/Mcateer and Mary Flanagan. To make it easier I will refer to my direct ancestor as Patrick Mcentee and the DNA link as Patrick Mcintyre.
Here is an earlier post of mine on the same subject, which has info on Patrick Mcentee:
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=877282.0Patrick Mcintyre married Mary Flanagan on the 30 Jun 1872 in Annaghlone, they had seven children. The first three, Alice, Susannah and James were born 1873, 1876, 1878 respectively and all baptised in Annaghlone, while in Ireland the spelling of the surname usually was Mcateer. The family moved to Liverpool between 1878 and 1880. They had Mary, Patrick, Thomas and Michael Joseph born 1880, 1884, 1887 and 1889 respectively in Liverpool. I am connected by DNA to descendants of Michael Joseph, at about a 4th or 5th cousin level, which would suggest the common ancestor being the father of Patrick Mcentee.
In the census Patrick Mcintyre is born about 1855, I have found a baptism for a Patrick Mcateer on 22 Feb 1851 in Annaghlone to Michael Mcateer and Susanna Mclinden. Michael and Susanna had Alice, Patrick and Mary baptised respectively in 1845, 1846 and 1848.
There is an 1861 census for a Michael (b. 1826) and Susannah Mcintire (b. 1830) in 1861 listing their children as Mary, Susannah and Annie born respectively 1849, 1857 and 1860 all born in Liverpool. This couple further had a John Mcintyre 1863 whose mother's maiden name is listed as Mclinden. Interestingly, the families of Patrick Mcintyre and Michael Mcintyre were neighbours on Fisher St in 1881. Could this be father and son? My only umbrage with this theory is as to why a young Patrick would not be living with the family in 1861 at a young age?
I have been unable to find baptisms for the generation prior to Patrick Mcintyre nor prove a father/son relationship between him and Michael. I believe that generation would contain Patrick Mcentee, does anyone have any ideas to figure this out?
