Accessing Parish Registers

Hello! Hello!
I am looking for pre 1830 birth and marriage records.  I believe my best option is to find Parish Registers.  However, I don't know how to go about this.  I live in the United States and am not familiar with how/where these types of records are stored. Direction would be greatly appreciated.

As you make no mention of a country things may vary.Start by checking resources page in the country or UK county you are interested in and go from there.
Butcher Westmorland and Lancashire
Barton Westmorland and Yorkshire

Yes, you need to look to the parish registers.
We really need to know what country you are looking in, and then depending what country, in what county , town or parish, as there may be different options/ online sites.

I suggest you try Family Search first. It is free to search once you have registered.

Add in Cornwall-OPC-Database.org, Lancashire OPC (lan-opc.org.uk), Wiltshire OPC (Wiltshire-opc.org.uk).

These are sites I have used many times!

Census records should give a parish of birth then you need to see what records are available.  Try typing the parish in the search box (top right) of Family Search Research Wiki. https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/England_Genealogy

Freereg is also worth a look. https://www.freereg.org.uk/?locale=en

Then there are the subscription sites:  Ancestry, Findmypast etc.  You'll need to check that the sites offer what you are looking for before paying your money.
