I am looking for the death date of Daniel Humphrey and need help
« on: Monday 01 July 24 01:40 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the death date of
Daniel Humphrey (1)

Another person says to have his birth certificate and his birthday is 20/06/1841 with parents Henry and Elizabeth Underwood (another person as them on ancestry has them marked as Underwood / Winch). Sept qtr Vol 12 pg 105 Ridgewell, Halstead, Essex.
(For whatever reason I can't find this record even with the page and volume number)

Another
Daniel Humphrey (2) was born in the same area with mother last name underwood

HUMPHREY, DANIEL Mother's Maiden Surname: UNDERWOOD
GRO Reference: 1840 M Quarter in HALSTED UNION Volume 12 Page 114
he died in 1867 and although is cousin to Daniel Humphrey (1). I am not researching Daniel Humphrey (2).

--------------
I am looking for the death date only for Daniel Humphrey (1)
-------------
last known record of him is the 1881 census

1881 census
Civil parish   Exning
County/Island   Suffolk
Country   England
Street Address   North End
Marital Status   Married
Occupation   Ag. Lab.
Registration district   Newmarket
ED, institution, or vessel   5
Neighbors   View others on page
Piece   1676
Folio   66
Page number   6

Daniel Humphrey (1) was married to Ellen Choat and I have all their census and children information with no issues

Ellen married John Fitch 26 Nov 1882 • Essex, England. So I assume that Daniel Humphrey (1)
must have died in 1881 or they got divorce or the Ellen getting married to John Fitch is an error or???

anyway, I would like some help here

The 1881 census for Daniel Humphrey aged 39 b Ridgewell Essex shows only one child - Florence aged 1 b Exning Suffolk

In 1891 Florence is a  Nurse child living with a Walter & Hannah Metson

thank you I didn't have the 1891 census for Florence. Daniel and Ellen had three other children that were out of the house at the time. Daniel Humphrey just seems to of disappeared in 1881 - 1882 it wasn't common to get divorced but maybe he left the country. How does one check the boat records ?

Suggest you get a copy of the birth certificate to verify his parents, don't take the word of someone else.

Ref reply #1 from Neale1961

He gave the reference number and place you need, a PDF copy is less expensive.

He would have named his father when he married "Eleanor" Choat 1860 registered Halstead.

This would also verify his fathers name.

I know this doesn't appear to help finding his death, however other countries name the parents on death certificates, the more we know about him could make it easier to find him.

I am trying to help another person who already bought the Birth cert of Daniel Humphrey. They did this because without it they couldn't tell which Daniel Humphrey was their direct ancestor. Having two born in the same area at the about same time with the same mother's maiden name. I didn't state this, but Ellen Choat is my 3rd great grandaunt. I'm not DNA related to Daniel Humphrey. I am related to the person I am trying to help with this. I haven't had much luck which is why I have asked here.

1881 they are in Exning Suffolk.

Daniel became unemployed and was sent back to his place of birth, Ridgewell Essex.-- Look for Poor Law Records in both Suffolk and Essex.

Daniel died in Suffolk and his wife went back to Ridgewell, only 6 1/2 miles from Finchingfield where she remarried, which is odd as 1881 she says born Chilton Suffolk or is that an error.

Exning is 21 miles from Ridgewell, if he died there it is unlikely he was taken 21 miles to be buried.

Not many Suffolk records are on line. Try contacting the Suffolk Records Office for burials at Exning.
