Trying to help a friend find a person
« on: Wednesday 14 August 24 08:25 BST (UK) »
Hi There,

OK, here goes, I'm trying to trace my grans gran. I have a tree underway on Ancestry, and have found my grans mum, ALICE MARY ISAACS, born 14/1/1886 in Canning Town, London. He mother was MARY ISAACS, no father on the birth certificate. I can find Alice on the 1901 census as a servant at 15, but I can't find her on the 1891 census. Alice's baptism form names her as ALICE MARY WEBB ISAACS.
Ancestry keeps throwing a Joseph B Isaacs up as a possible father, but I think thats wrong, as on the census the birth info for the child is wrong.

Thanks for any help on finding her in 1891

 :)

...but I can't find her on the 1891 census. Alice's baptism form names her as ALICE MARY WEBB ISAACS.

According to her baptism, it seems she was a illegitmate daughter of Mary Isaacs. Lambeth, Surrey, England
- Kiernan from County Meath
- Kelly from County Kildare
- Donnelly from County Tyrone
- McKenna from County Tyrone/Moghanan

A surname was often thrown in to indicate birth father . Was there a Mr WEBB. In the vicinity who could be likely candidate?
Maybe Mary ISAACS took him to court to obtain maintenance you may be lucky enough to find a newspaper report or an affiliation order .

DNA could show if there are any WEBB  connections

The address on the baptism is 26 Rutland Street.  Have you eliminated the Isaacs family living at no 28 in 1901 as being related somehow.

John 45. Sorry that should read Ivo see later posts
William H 13
Winifred 10
Jane 47 (Sister)

They were also there in 1891 with Johns wife Sarah A
