People listed in a 1582 Will of John Games of Devynock Breconshire
« on: Thursday 15 August 24 00:15 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I purchased a scan of an ancient Will, of John Games of Breconshire, 1582. It is quite legible considering its age, but I would like help deciphering some of the names.
All assistance will be gratefully received...

I've done the first image.  I'll do the second later if it's not been done.

The writer doesn't always put a comma between names so these are my best judgement only.  Some spellings aren't clear.

Witnesses present at the publishing:

hoell gwine esquier

morgan wallter

willia(m) p(ro)sser

R(ys) d(avi)d willi(a)n

R(ys) ap Iev(a)n ap d(avi)d

thomas Jenkin willi(a)n

d(avi)d ap Iev(a)n

david goz?

thomas ap thomas

morgan david ap R(ys) ap madocke

John ap hoell gwine

hoell d(avi)d willi(a)n

Where I have transcribed as willi(a)n, what is written is willin but with a mark indicating a contraction.  The a is my best guess.

By the way Llanfi, there are a couple of your posts dating back to late July which were answered but you seem not to have noticed the answers.

Hello horselydown86!

Thanks for the help! The Will is actually for Thomas Games, not John Games, and it makes a difference!

Unfortunatley I am now completely confused as to this family and the names don't clarify anything for me.

I am going back a bit to Merthyr Cynog, and will leave Gwenddwr and Devynock for future research.

Thanks for your kind attention!

Take care and best regards!
