I saw a post in this forum requesting information about John Robson Charleton. He is the son of George Charleton and Annie Robson. George was a captain of a ship and unfortunately passed away at age 63 in Raglan New Zealand by drowning on this vessel. John is one of about 9 children, some of George and Annie's children were born in Australia prior to them coming to New Zealand but it is recorded that John was born here in New Zealand and is the youngest of George and Annie's children. I have lots of information about John as he is my direct ancestor. He married a Maori woman at the age of 23 and they had around 15 children before he remarried to another woman named Isabella. My ancestors name is Te Ata Awahuri Totakai and she was John's first wife. I have copies of both marriage and death certificate of my ancestor where John is stated to be her husband and father of her children. She passed well before John, hence the 2nd marriage.
