« on: Thursday 15 August 24 14:50 BST (UK) »
Joseph Huxley  b.1789 Hampton Wick London England

Married Elizabeth Emonson there in 1813

Found baptism of most of their 7 children in Kensington
 James 1818
Mark * 1820
John 1824
Twins William.+ Henry 1825
Eleonor 1827
& Elizabeth 1836

In 1847 Joseph of 11 James street  was applying for relief in st Mary abbots parish where he had been living for at least 5 years

Mentions that he had had
*Parish relief from Hampton Wick parish previously

His son John age 24 is described as afflicted and daughter Elizabeth age 15
Presumably the others had left home

But where were they all in 1841  ?

Mark Huxley married Caroline bishop in July 1841 at st Leonard's their address was given as  golden lane
Profession of his father given as cutler

Not found mark or Caroline in 1841

There's a possible 1848 death for Eleonor.in workhouse

No sign of others on ancestry

I suspect Huxley has been mistranscribed

I've tried family search too

Not finding Joseph or family numbers
Tried spellings HAXLEY HOXLEY + HURLEY
What are the other possibilities?

James street seems to be a consistent address for family members
From baptisms of children in 1820s

Thru to 1901

Thanks so much amongdog

#: I had  James married to Sarah TARRENT as hypothesis from other trees

& Elizabeth after Harry Jenkins married Plunkett

It's odd that I hadn't found the eldest or youngest son before
*
I LL check the other  entries out asap

Confirmed
That all adds up and leads to possible DNA matches in Canada via a son of Thomas & Priscilla
Mark Huxley 1868 m Mary Ann MOCK.

Now there are more than 7 children

In 1847
but surely only the disabled adult child would have been under his care .unless he was listing children who could be liable to support their father
