Doctors name on reference from Chorlton Union Hospital c.1904
« on: Thursday 15 August 24 19:06 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I am seeking some help working out the name of a doctor who wrote a reference for a nurse who had just finished her nurse training at Chorlton Workhouse Hospital in 1904.
I'm assuming he was living at 1 Chapel Street, Winkley Place at the time???
His 'letters after his name' would be a bonus.
Thanks.

In the 1921 census someone works for a "Dr Sellus" of 1 Chapel Street.

William Henry Irvin Sellers is still at the same address in 1911 and 1921.

He died suddenly in 1921.
Death notice has the letters MB, MRCS after his name (which matches the OP's image above).

He died 12th November 1921 in Preston. There is a detailed eulogy in the November 14th edition of The Lancashire Daily Post, page 4 column 5. Apparently he was known as Dr Irvin Sellers.
